Washboard Hank has been playing, touring, recording and writing songs for many years and lives in his hometown of Peterborough Ontario, which is where I met him first.
He was playing with his trio and had his famous washboard and homemade percussion and a style that just doesn't quit.

We visited the only open mic in a funeral home that we know of "Cruikshanks Open Mic" at the Cruikshanks Funeral Home in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Created by Caroline McQuillan Melanson and hosted by Noah Tye, this happens the last Wednesday of every month.
All styles, all calibers of players, lots of original music as well as cover songs, poetry, you name it

Graham Nicholas (Nova Scotia) has a lovely voice and well crafted original songs which he shares here in a live recorded interview along with a few album tracks. He has 5 albums online.
Why This?
In 2022 I was asked by my friend Jim if I would want to take over hosting a one hour radio show that aired on a local community station. I said, "Yes... I have no clue what I'm doing but, sure, why not? I'm not playing as much right now and I love music and people and songwriting so I'm in!"
I changed the name to Songwriters From Here And Away which is the Facebook page I've had for a long while. I've hosted probably ~70 house concert type shows over the years and that is where this podcast/radio/video project sits right now.
Sometimes the show is just tracks from artists, with a bit of info on the artist thrown in, some are zoom interviews with the artist playing songs and now I am hosting the interview & chat session in a live setting with a small audience. This gives the artist someone to play for other than just me!
Hopefully you will like where it is going. Let me know what you think, which artists you might like to here or any other ideas you may have. I value the feedback.
